Insane Airports

Insane Airports

If you think the average trip to an airport is madness, what you're about to see may completely change your mind. The pictures below are just a few of the world's most extreme and dangerous airports for taking off and landing, with the kind of  runways I never realised actually existed until recently!

The first insane airport I came across (which inspired this post) was Gibraltar Airport, shown in the picture below. As you can see from the picture, it has a main road cutting right across the middle of a runway, so for obvious reasons they have to close that road whenever a plane is landing or taking off from that airport.

 Gibraltar Airport

Next, a rather strange Scottish airport located on a beach on the Island of Barra, with 3 runways laid out in a triangle.
Barra Airport is the only one in the world to use a beach as a runway for scheduled flights and flight times vary with the tide since the runways vanish under the sea at high tide.

 Barra Airport

In 2010, The History Channel rated Lukla Airport in Nepal as the most dangerous airport. 'Situated at a height of 2900 meters, its landing strip has a high mountain on one end and a thousand meter drop on the other'. This airport is best known as being the starting point for most people who climb Mount Everest.

Lukla Airport

And to end this post, an Airport that I can only imagine must be rather tiny based on the size of this tiny runway. Plus I just saw a video of a plane landing here on Youtube and there was so little space I was convinced the wing was about to take out a lamp post at the side of the runway but somehow it managed not to! Gustaf 3 (St Bart) Airport, located on the Caribbean island of Saint Barthélemy, is fairly dangerous for both pilots and passengers...
'The corridor in which the runway has been built is incredibly narrow, and planes come frighteningly close to hitting the slopes of the adjacent upland area, or plummeting into the ocean. There are warning signs asking the careless people not to take sun bathes near the runway'.

Personally I don't think the Gibraltar one looks too bad, as long as traffic is being stopped for the planes using the runways, but I wouldn't like to visit the other airports listed in this post....I don't mind flying generally but I'd be pretty terrified landing on such dodgy runways!

This blog post was inspired by looking through a collection of photos of things that claimed they would turn my world upside down, which they completely failed to do, with most of the photos being either very boring or very fake looking, but a few did get my attention, including one of an airport with a main road cutting through the runway, which prompted me to look it up and check if that was a real, active airport. It turned out it was and I ended up sitting reading about loads of other crazy airports before deciding to create this blog post.

Please like and share this post if you enjoyed it and if you have any suggestions for future posts please leave a comment below =)

Also, if you found this interesting I'd recommend doing a Google search on extreme and dangerous airports as there are loads more to read about!

People Who Spit Everywhere And Generally Lack Respect For Others

I've never understood people who insist on spitting everywhere. My neighbour does so, in the stair, in the lift...anywhere! I wouldn't mind so much but i recently came out of my flat a little while after hearing him at my door and saw a big spit pile right at my door and since he spits everywhere plus no one else had been at my door that day, I knew right away it was him.
As soon as I saw him I pulled him up for spitting at my door and he said sorry, but a few days later I left my flat to find not only someone's disgusting spit at my door, but they had done so twice! And again, he was the only person I' heard at my door that day, plus the only one I know disgusting enough to do something like that.
However this time when I pulled him up for it he got huffy and said it wasn't him but I know it was him an that he was most likely denying it because his dad was with him and would have moaned at him if he'd admitted to spitting right in front of my door, or possibly just because I'd already pulled him up for it once and he didn't want to admit to doing the same thing again after I'd told him not to do it because it was disgusting.
Either way, there's no need in such behaviour, especially considering he's in his 20's (23 I think) and should know better, especially after me previously telling him to stop it. It's disgusting enough seeing children spitting out in the street but an adult doing it inside a block of flats is just ridiculous...especially doing it right at my door when he only ever comes to my door when he wants me to do something for him! Even if he didn't only come to my door wanting a favour it would still be ridiculous that he spits right in front of my door!
So to anyone else who thinks its ok to behave in such a way...I don't care what anyone has to say about the following comment ( although I'd hope most people would agree with me on this) - YOU ARE DISGUSTING!  If you really feel the need to spit, do it in the toilet, or if you're not at home or in someone's house do it outside, preferably in a place where no one else will see it and be disgusted by it! Seeing someone's spit is always disgusting, whether it's outside (which in my experience tends to be most often at a bus stop) or anywhere else, but seriously, spitting inside a block of flats is beyond disgusting and right in front of someone's door (especially when you're at their door to sk them to do something for you) just completely and utterly takes the piss!
For anyone that applies to- you need to learn what's considered acceptable behaviour before you leave your house in future. If I hadn't been raised to respect other people and other people's property I'd seriously be tempted to spit right outside my neighbours door several times for each time he did it to me, but my mother raised me to be respectful to others, which obviously I'm thankful for, but at it really annoys me that being respectful means I have to just take this kind of crap from other people and can't do anything about it unless I'm willing to sink to their level, which I'm not.
So for now all I can do is hope people with such disgusting habits and lack of respect for others will learn to change their ways but unfortunately it doesn't look like that's going to happen any time soon =(

'Speed On The Grid 3D Free' iPhone Game Review

Get it now on the App Store:Speed Grid 3D Free

Rating: 5/5

Speed On The Grid is a simple but addictive iPhone game where you have to keep a ball on the grid by moving side to side and jumping over gaps to get to the end of each level.  Also, throughout each level are chances to collect points and extra lives as well as things to avoid such as mines and rockets.

It's a lot more challenging than it sounds and personally I've found it's kept me entertained for a lot longer than I  expected.  I'm not someone who plays games on my phone, this is the only  game on my phone and if I hadn't found this game I doubt I ever would have included any game reviews in the App Review section on iPhone Planet.
The game has almost 200k downloads so far and 80,926 are actually registered on Game Centre.  There are currently 73 levels to complete, with plans to add more in future updates.

I highly recommend this game to any one looking for a challenge, but if you lack patience, don't have good concentration, or simply like the kind of game where you pretty much manage to complete each level on your first attempt, then this game's probably not for you...although I'd recommend checking it out anyway because it is a really fun and addictive game which I found after initially thinking 'This is far too hard for me, there's no point in bothering to try again', I actually then ended up deciding to rise to the challenge and refused to admit defeat...

And despite being convinced I'd never get very far in the game, it seems miracles can happen and I actually completed the entire game  which seemed to surprise the developer, who even said 'Congratulations! I'm really shocked...' In his reply to a message I sent him after completing the game.
He also mentioned that he'd need to make an update for the game now that it's been completed and never said how long it's likely to take but as far as I'm aware I'm the only person who has completed the game so far so I doubt there's any need to get the update done in a hurry.
Even though I've completed the game I'm still enjoying playing it from the start again, trying to improve my score, which is currently the 2nd highest score on the 'all time' leader board and I'm hoping to reach the number 1 spot so I won't be quitting this game any time soon!
